The MISTEGUAY Creek Drain system runs through eastern parts of New Haven, through much of Hazleton, and up through Albee Township. This drain district also contains other townships and villages. It consists of over 22 miles of drains, dikes, and dams. Due to erosion of the ditches in Albee Township, the multi-county drainage board has received petition from a township to repair this system. Current estimates for repair are at 2.6 million dollars.
The first public hearing will be at the Albee Township Hall, 10645 East Rd, at 6:30 p.m. on June 3 2010.
Shiawassee County's share of the assessment is currently 43%. Not only will current estimates impact New Haven Township's general fund to the tune of $50,000.00, each land owner in this drainage district will be assessed.
If you get a notice in the mail of this meeting, and have concerns, you should attend this public hearing.
