Tax Information:

Residents can check their property tax information for free online.    You are required to create an account password and enter a valid email address so you can receive an account confirmation link.  If you encounter difficulties with setting up your account call BS&A Software at 855-272-7638.  There is a small fee charged by BS&A for non-residents to access the information.

This is a third party service, and  we upload the township's tax information to the site.  There is no cost to the township.

You can verify that payments made in the current tax year have been posted and get a PDF copy of your bill.  Please allow processing time before payments are posted.

 

Easy Payment Options:

Effective July 1, 2019, we are offering current year property tax payment by phone and through the internet.  Types of payments accepted are ECheck (with a small fixed amount fee) and by credit card (with approximately a 3.5% fee).

Mailing payments is strongly encouraged.  If you need a stamped receipt, please send a self addressed stamped envelope.   An emailed receipt can be sent if email address is provided.  BSA Online also has paid status of bills and can be printed. 

Delinquent Prior Year Tax Payments:

Delinquent Taxes are paid to the Shiawassee County Treasurer.  You can call their office at 989-743-2224 to inquire about making payment.  Online information is also available as well as online payments through the County website.  Go to http://www.shiawassee.net/County-Treasurer/ and click on the link to Pay Delinquent Taxes Online. https://bsaonline.com/OnlinePayment/OnlinePaymentSearch/?PaymentApplicationType=5&uid=2067

Poverty Exemption:

Section 7u of the General Property Tax Act (MCL211.7u) allows a property tax exemption for a principal residence if a person is unable to pay due to poverty.  The township board must annually adopt poverty exemption income guidelines and an asset level test.  To request a poverty exemption, a taxpayer must file the following with the township.

1.  Form 5737 Application for MCL211.7u Poverty exemption (Form 5737)

2.  Form 5739 Affirmation of Ownership and Occupancy to Remain Exempt by Reason of Poverty Affirmation of Ownership and Occupancy to Remain Exempt by Reason (michigan.gov)

3.  All required additional documentation. (such as federal/state income tax returns.

Summer Taxes Minimize

   

Summer tax bills must be paid by September 14, 2023 to avoid interest

I will also be accepting payment in person at the New Haven Township Hall on these dates:  NO CASH PLEASE.  

In person collection schedule is as follows:

 

Saturday, August 19, 2023--9 am to noon

Saturday, September 9, 2023—9 am to noon 

Thursday, September 14, 2023— 9 am to 5 pm

 

There is also a drop box mounted on the outside of the Township Hall where you can drop off your payment.  Payments must be dropped off no later than  5 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023, to be considered paid on time.

All bills are mailed to the property owner.    If requested by mortgage companies and lenders,  tax information is sent to them electronically. Check with your mortgage company to be sure they have requested and received your tax information for payment.

Deferrals:

Property tax deferments allowed under MCL211.51 can be taken, and the deferred tax then becomes payable on Monday, February 14, 2023.  Click link  for this form: https://www.michigan.gov/documents/homestead1_2541_7.pdf

Please list all parcels you are deferring.  You may list them all on one form.  Please be sure to sign the form before mailing back to me at P. O. Box 36, Corunna, MI  48817, or send by email to newhaventwp@gmail.com.

Tax Information Available Online:

Tax information is now available online through our tax software provider’s website— BS&A.  A property owner can set up an account and view information on his or her own properties for free.  Access to information about properties other than your own has a per record cost determined by BS&A.  The link to the website is:

 

https://bsaonline.com?uid=1863.  The site is updated with payments received as they are processed by the township.

 

The website has help in setting up an account.  They also offer assistance by emailing is@bsasoftware.com or by calling

1-855-BSA-SOFT (272-7638).  If you own multiple properties that are not titled exactly the same, you may need assistance in order to see all of those properties online.  The site also includes many years of tax history on each parcel.

 

 

PAY REMOTELY:  You can now pay by E-check or Credit Card by going to the BS&A link above.  Payment by telephone is also available by dialing (833)440-3765 starting July 1. Fees will be added to your payment.

 

 

 
Winter Taxes Minimize

 

 

Winter tax bills are due February 14, 2024 to avoid interest and penalty.  Summer tax bills that were deferred are also due on this date.

Because of the delays in mail delivery, postmarks are no longer accepted.  Please allow 5-7 days for your payment to be receved on time. 

 

You can also pay in person at the New Haven Township Hall on these dates:

              Saturday, December 16, 2023—9 a.m. to noon

             Wednesday,  December 27, 2023—9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

             Saturday, February 10, 2024—9 a.m. to noon

             Wednesday, February 14, 2024—9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

             Thursday, February 29, 2024—9 a.m. to 5 p.m.     LAST DAY THAT I CAN ACCEPT PAYMENTS.

For the safety of the tax collection team,  and because we don’t have a cash drawer to make change, we request that you DO NOT PAY IN CASH.

 

Any payments received by mail after February 29, 2024, or put in the drop box after 5 pm on February 29, 2024, will be returned, as the Township cannot accept payments after the close of business on February 29.  It becomes the responsibility of the  County Treasurer to collect, and they will bill you with the appropriate interest and penalties added to pay your tax obligation in full.
